Biosketch

Dr. Manabu Mochizuki, MD, PhD graduated Kyushu University School of Medicine in 1973, residency in ophthalmology at Tokyo University Hospital in 1973-74.
He was awarded PhD in 1979 Tokyo University, and named Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Tokyo University School of Medicine (1979-1986); Visiting Associate, National Eye Institute, NIH, USA. (1981-1984); Associate Professor Tokyo University (1986-1990); Professor & Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology, Kurume University School of Medicine (1990-1998); Professor & Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences (1990-).

Dr. Mochizuki is an internationally well-recognized expert in uveitis and a well known scientist in the field of ocular immunology, infection, inflammation, and pharmacology. He is author and co-author of more than 500 scientific publications and gave many named lectures and symposium.
Dr. Mochizuki is President of Japanese Ocular Inflammation Society, President of Japanese Ocular Pharmacological Society, Council of Japan Ophthalmological Society, Chairman of International Ocular Inflammation Society, and active member of International Uveitis Study Group, Society for Ophthalmo-Immunoinfectiology in Europe (SOIE), Association for Research in Ophthalmology and Visual Science (ARVO), European Association for Vision and Eye Research (EVER) and many other international societies.
Dr. Mochizuki is Executive Editor of Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology, Editorial Board member of Ocular Immunology and Inflammation, International Ophthalmology, and Journal of Ophthalmology.
